What bluestone and sandstone walls in Adelaide actually involves

The Kensington and Norwood survey describes the property on George Street, Norwood, as built of selected coursed random-rubble bluestone, lined pointing and rendered quoins, frieze and brackets on the front wall. Random rubble bluestone with coarse pointing is used in the side walls The Unley study says of the property on Thornber Street: The house also features tuck pointing, panelled windows with hand made glass.

What this tells you

The surveys name materials and pointing styles; they do not say how any wall should be repaired, and they do not say which houses are heritage places today. Ask the provider what the wall is built of and how the pointing will match, and ask the council whether approval is needed.

Ask the provider whether they have matched lined or coarse pointing before and how they will match the existing joint profile.
